Highlights on Silicon Mountain
Cameroon's most innovative community.
Silicon Mountain is the tech ecosystem of Fako Division, with its epicentre in Buea. The name is a play on Silicon Valley and Mount Fako, the highest point in West and Central Africa. It is built on collaboration between universities such as the University of Buea, community groups, innovation hubs, startups and supporting public institutions.

What is SMCON all about?
SMCON is back.
Each year the Silicon Mountain community has organised a conference that puts its technologies, products and services in the spotlight. In 2017 it drew more than 900 participants, making it the largest community-driven technology, innovation and entrepreneurship event in Cameroon. After more than two years without a full conference, the Silicon Mountain Community Association General Assembly committed to reviving SMCON, as a platform, not just an event.

When and where is SMCON26?
SMCON26, the Silicon Mountain Conference 2026, runs from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 November 2026 in Buea, Cameroon. Activities take place at venues across Buea, and the main day is Saturday 14 November at Mountain Hotel, Buea.
How much does it cost to attend?
The main conference is free with registration, so the whole community can take part. The Founders/Funders Dinner is ticketed.
What is the SMCON26 theme?
The 2026 theme is “What can tech do for you?”. For the trader, the farmer, the student, the civil servant and the investor, SMCON26 answers with working products, live demos, honest policy conversations and the people who build them.
What competitions run at SMCON26?
Three: the Code Battle & Hackathon, the Startup Pitch Contest and the AI Movie Contest. Each has a XAF 1,000,000 prize pool: XAF 500,000 for first, 300,000 for second and 200,000 for third.
How many people attend?
Organisers project more than 3,000 cumulative attendances across all activities, about 1,000 participants on the main day at Mountain Hotel, 50 exhibition stands and around 300 guests at the Gala Night.
How can my company sponsor or exhibit?
