In August 2026 the Silicon Mountain ecosystem came together at Mountain Hotel, Buea, for its General Assembly. With the support of UNDP and PPRD, founders, hub leaders, developers, students and partners spent the day on one question: how should the community that built Cameroon’s best-known tech ecosystem organise itself for the next decade?
An ecosystem that governs itself
The conversations covered how the Silicon Mountain Community Association is run, how members are represented and how the community decides what it backs. The goal is an inclusive, ecosystem-governed future for digital innovation in Buea and the wider Fako Division, where universities, hubs, startups and public institutions each have a voice.
Founders, hub leaders and partners discussed how the community is organised and how it grows.
Reviving SMCON
After more than two years without a full conference, the General Assembly committed to reviving SMCON as a platform, not just an event. SMCON26, from 12 to 14 November 2026 in Buea, is the first result: three days, three competitions with XAF 3M in prizes, and a main conference that stays free with registration.
